Can I smile in my passport photo?

You should have a neutral facial expression or a natural, closed-mouth smile. Exaggerated expressions or wide open-mouth smiles may cause rejection. Keep both eyes open and look directly at the camera.

No. Since November 2016, the U.S. State Department no longer accepts passport photos with glasses, even prescription glasses. Remove all eyewear before taking your photo.
